  1. Swimming is advisable for people who suffer from asthma. Cold and dry air causes asthma attack, thus the warm humidity of the swimming pool keeps the airways moist.

  2. Some believed that practicing blowing up balloons can improve the lung capacity, and thus improves the asthma condition.


  3. If you experience fall in your area, be prepared for fall allergies and the weather as these changes are known to affect the condition of asthma. Some points to note:
    (i) Try to keep the windows and doors closed during the pollen season. If not, keep them opened to a minimum.
    (ii) Keep away from wet leaves and garden trash.
    (iii) Pollens are highest during noon, so plan outdoor activities in the morning or late evening.
    (iv) After spending the day outdoors, wash your hair and body thoroughly and change your clothing upon reaching home.

  4. Rinse the nasal passages with a solution distilled or filtered water and pure, non-iodized salt. The water should be warm like the normal body temperature as cold water will cause the nasal membranes to swell and hot water will burn the sensitive nasal mucosa. This home remedy is simple yet provide almost immediate relief for nasal congestion and even helpful for asthma, allergies and sinus problems.

  5. Stretching the neck may help to lessen the allergic effects in the head and sinuses. This will decrease the increased sensitivity within the sinuses of the myofascial neuropathies.

  6. Eat fruits and vegetables that are high in Vitamin C such as grapefruit, cantaloupes, guava, berries, etc. and alfalfa, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, etc. Vitamin C may lessen the severity of nose stuffiness and provide relief for asthma sufferers.
