Useful
bartending guide to give you a crash course in bartender training.
Bartending
can be a fun job with great side benefits if you play your cards
right. However you must not be disillusioned because bartending
is also a lot of hard work and possibly late nights. The following
instructions and tips are a simple guide into the world of a bartender.
- Any bartending bible or training book will tell you that a
bartender’s job includes:
• Keeping track of the liquor stock in the bar
• Keeping the glasses clean
• Making sure everyone at the bar has what they need
• Not serving someone who is underage
• Watching out for the boss!
The basics of bartending would of course be to learn how to make
the drinks to keep your customers happy and high.
- In order to be a great bartender you not only need to be strong
physically but mentally as well. This is because as a bartender
you will need to deal with all sorts of people at your job.
- Sometimes the people you deal with are friendly and will be
more than happy to chat with you and you’ll be able to end
your day with a sweet tip.
- More often than not though you will most likely have to deal
with drunks or people who have sudden personality changes while
they are drinking.
- Keeping your temper in check and having a good attitude while
mixing your drinks and bartending are the basic rules you need
to follow to survive in this line of work.
- Bartending can be a highly stressful job if you let it be!
Think positive though and you could end up extremely satisfied
at the end of your shift when strangers have been praising you
all evening and the tips are pilling up.
- At the end of the day books and training courses offering bartending
guides can only take you so far because there is no substitute
for experience. So go out there and get yourself a job at the
bar.
