Johnny Cash T-Shirts Are The Latest Trend. But Are They Hot Or Just Not?

It seems like, today, nearly everyone has a Johnny Cash t shirt and is wearing it on an almost daily basis. I swear, the man in black has always had has following, but since he died, and that stupid and tremendously overrated movie came out, it is like people just simply can not get enough of him at all.

Not only will people who normally not touch country with a ten foot cattle prod now listen to Johnny Cash songs almost all of the time, but they dress themselves in Johnny Cash t shirts, Johnny Cash hats – you name it. I know that it is kind of adolescent to go on and on about how this group or that group is a no good bunch of posers, but I just simply have to call it about like I see it. The way that I see it is that most of the people out on the street today wearing a Johnny Cash t shirt really do not give a care at all about the great singer songwriter, what he stood for, and what he did both for country music, and for American music in general. They are just out there buying their Johnny Cash t shirts off of Amazon in a desperate attempt to try to look cool. Well, for me at least, it is not working.

Wearing a Johnny Cash t shirt does not make you cool. I can understand when teenagers try to fit in with all of their friends, but I would think that people outside of high school would be old enough to realize that the clothes that you wear or do not wear do very little to show who you are. Getting dressed up in costume is fun, that is why kids do it on Halloween, but wearing a Johnny Cash t shirt does not make you some kind of rebel or counter-culture hero. I do not think that people even believe that in their own heads. No one is quite that stupid. Really, it does not matter what you wear, or what you listen to. It does not even matter if you express yourself – it is probably a waste of time to, unless you have something quite unusual to say. What matters is to try to live your own dreams, and that has nothing to do with your Johnny Cash t shirt , or cowboys, or rebellion, although it might have something to do with the man himself. Take off that Johnny Cash t shirt if you want to be a real rebel.
