If you want to decorate with vases in your house, you’ll need to know where to use them for their maximum effectiveness of style and beauty. Check out a few tips on where to put them, and a few places that they might not fit, but remember you can be versatile when decorating with large vases in your home, or even outside.

Most people nowadays don’t have the formal dinner hours or a get together when these types of vases were used for decoration. You might be old enough to remember the special parties that your parents or grandparents had in the 1950s or 60s. More than likely they had a large formal table that could easily seat a lot of people, but today’s lifestyles are different. Large vases don’t fit most dinning room tables, and besides there is not that much call for entertaining in a grand way.

They can be used in other areas of the house though. They’re perfect for foyers as they are large enough to be set on the floor or a single table with a good lighting effect. You can use real or fake flowers if you want, but make sure they don’t over take the beauty of the vase. Using big vases for decoration also depends on the style of your home. For example, if you have a southwestern theme, sandstone color and Native American style would really be appropriate. It would be attractive to set the large vases out around a fireplace.

In a Victorian theme they look very nice in a library or parlor. If your house is an original Victorian home, rooms tend to be smaller, so make sure to place your delicate vases out of hand or feet reach, but yet visible too. It would be a sad day, if one of your beauties were knocked off, or kicked and shattered. A great place to put a Victorian designed large vases, would be on a window seat that is unused, just watch moving the blinds, so it’s not toppled.

Another way to use them is to place several around a patio or deck with lovely flowers. Not only does it give a visual reference point, that’ll line your walkways, but the contents of the large vases can be changed out with the seasons. Decorative things can be added to the large vases to spice them up. Large colored stones or pretty shiny metallic can bring in the Christmas season with a bang. Clay pots are hard to find, but decorating with them as large vases blends with spring.

These decorative accents can be used anywhere in your home, but remember to always use them safely. Don’t overload large vases or place them in areas where others can be hurt. Consider too that if you have small kids or pets it’s easy for them to be hurt by a toppling vase. Most of all take the time and plan well how you want to decorate with large vases.
