I walked into my daughter’s bedroom last night and tripped almost immediately. The culprit who jumped up and tripped me was a stuffed Tigger. He’s lucky he’s cute because my stubbed toe still hurts! My entire house has Winnie The Pooh toys everywhere. It has ever since we brought her home from the hospital.

My daily routine when I was a young kid at school was to go home and watch the cartoons before it was time for supper. This was usually Popeye, Yogi Bear, Tom and Jerry, Roadrunner or Top Cat. I would laugh myself silly, and it was the perfect way to relax after a double lesson of math. My favorite animation character then was Top Cat. Inspired by the Sergeant Bilko TV series with Phil Silvers, TC ran his alley and gang of alley cats with cunning and style. I knew I would never be as cool as him.

I was cleaning out my garage recently when I came across a bunch of old fastpitch softball equipment of mine. I had played in a league every summer from the time I was seven years old until the time I went away to college. Even though it has been many years since I last picked up my old glove and bat, just seeing those things again reminded me of how much I missed the game. Since I’m still in pretty good shape, I decided to check out some adult leagues in my city.
