Thinking
of buying a pc? Why not learn how you can save money by building
your own computer
Similar
to Do It Yourself furniture, building your own pc can help you save
a lot on any extras that you might get in your bill if you buy a
computer straight from the shop. By building your own computer you
can save on delivery and assembly costs. There are three major steps
to building your own computer:
1.
Parts & Components
- The
first part of custom building your own computer is to know what
parts you want and need.
-
In order to determine this you should ask yourself, what the computer
is used for.
-
If it is used for basic work and internet surfing then you will
not need a high end computer. However if you are interested in
playing the latest computer games or your work deals with high
end programming or multimedia work, then you will need a high
end computer.
-
A friend or the shopkeeper can help you determine what you need
based on what you are using the computer for.
2.
Purchasing
- The
next step to build your pc is to buy the parts & components
that you have decided on.
- Most
likely you will have the following basic items: Casing, motherboard,
processor, RAM, Hard drive, floppy drive and CD-Rom.
- The
optional items are a power supply if your casing doesn’t
have one inbuilt, and a sound or video card if they are not included
with your motherboard.
-
When building your own pc you must also ensure that you have enough
fans to keep your computer from over heating. If you feel that
the casing itself does not carry enough fans you can buy a few
more coolers.
-
Before leaving the store make sure that you have sufficient screws
and cables.
3.
Assembly
- Computer
assembly is fairly easy to do. If it is your first time building
a computer it is advised to have a friend nearby who knows what
he is doing to teach you.
-
It should be easy to build a pc because everything has its proper
place. It something doesn’t fit, its likely that it doesn’t
belong there in the first place.
- After
putting all the hardware together you have to install the drivers
that are provided along with the components.
-
These drivers are extremely important so remember to keep them
in a safe place after you are done building your pc.
