How
to copy, burn or backup your own DVDs using your home computer.
If
you’ve heard of burning a CD then the concept of copying or
burning a DVD should not be foreign to you. It is basically the ability
to transfer data from your computer’s hard disk into a dvd.
Same as a floppy except that you’ll need a special software
and different hardware.
- Firstly, in order to copy or burn information or movies into
a dvd, you must have the right kind of CD drive.
- Commonly known as a DVD-R, this type of PC CD drive is able
to read regular cds as well as dvds. Like a CD-R, it is capable
of writing onto dvds and normal cds.
- You also need special cds that are known as DVD-R or DVD-RW.
The difference between the 2 is that the DVD-R can only be written
onto once but the DVD-RW can be reused over and over again.
-
It is important to know what kind of dvd you wish to copy because
you don’t want to waste your cds.
- After you have the right kind of hardware, you will need to
get a DVD burner software.
- DVD burner software can be downloaded online or bought from
a store. Most of them work the same way so the brand that you
choose is based on your personal preference for brand, usability
or looks.
- After installing the DVD burner software you should be able
to copy as many things as you like into your dvds.
- Things you can do with your dvd burner:
• Back up any important information that you have.
• Using your dvd burner as a duplicator to make multiple
dvds for large groups of friends.
• Copying old films from your hard disk into a dvd so that
you have an extra copy or for your friends to enjoy.
• The ability to copy from one dvd to another whether to
save a movie or some home videos.
