How
to avoid a Speeding Ticket
- The first rule is that knowing your state’s speed limit
law can really help you avoid a speeding ticket.
-
There are three types of speed limits
• Absolute – If you drive even a mile over the posted
limit you are considered speeding.
• Presumed – When the law is under the presumed speed
limit, legally you have every right to exceed the posted limit
as long as you are driving safely.
• Basic – This type of speed limit means that you
can drive at fast as the conditions (rain or shine) allow. The
speed limit posted in this case does not matter.
- Because not all states use the same law, you can get away with
speeding and beat the speeding ticket if you know your laws.Always
try to locate a free car program around your area. Search for
a program that has an online website for easy reference. Typically
these programs will also be able to tell you immediately whether
they have a program for you in your area.
- Driving ‘prudently and safely’ can also help you
get away with speeding without getting a speeding ticket on a
highway that follows the presumed speed limit law.
- In order to avoid a speeding ticket when you don’t know
the law of the state that you are in, drive at or below the posted
limits.
- If you are trying to contest or defend your actions when you
have been pulled over, remember that the cops are not out to get
you and that they are just doing their jobs. Being polite will
certainly give you a better chance of getting out of a speeding
ticket.
- Remember leave your seatbelt buckled or you might get a ticket
for that too. If it's unbuckled when you are pulled over, it's
better to surreptitiously put it on before you're pulled over
than to do it once the car has stopped.
